How TruePane Windows & Doors Came to Sarasota
We didn’t open a branch office in Sarasota because a spreadsheet said so. We came here because homeowners kept calling us from the Gulf Coast, asking the same question: can you fix what another company installed wrong? The first time we drove down from a job up north to look at a lanai door that wouldn’t seal, the homeowner showed us the original invoice and the three repair bills that followed it. The door was out of true by nearly half an inch. Every “fix” had been a caulk-and-paint job. Nobody had ever pulled the frame, squared the rough opening, and done the work right.
That was the moment. Sarasota’s housing stock is particular. Salt air, humidity that climbs in May and doesn’t leave until October, afternoon storms that hit hard and fast. Windows and doors here fail differently than they do inland. Binding in July, fogged glass by year three, frames that swell and pinch. The brand TruePane was built around a tradesman’s rule: if the pane is not true, the job is not done. Sarasota needed that standard. So we opened a branch and built a local team around it, one that knows what salt and humidity do to a window flange, and knows how to install so it never matters.
The opening wasn’t a ribbon cutting. It was a whiteboard in a small office, a list of neighborhoods we intended to serve well, and a promise borrowed from the brand’s founder: measure twice, quote side by side on paper, register both warranty layers before the truck leaves the driveway. That promise is the same one we keep today.
Dale Kessler’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade
Dale Kessler grew up around glass. His father was a glazier, the kind who kept a level in the truck door and a rag over his shoulder, and Dale remembers the smell of glazing compound and the sound of a glass cutter scoring a sheet in one long, even pull. He remembers sitting on a job site as a kid, watching grown men argue about whether a window was “close enough.” His father never argued. He’d hold the level up, let the bubble speak, and then do it over if it wasn’t right.
That’s the education you can’t get from a training video. Dale learned the trade by carrying the second man’s tools, then by cutting and setting and shimming his own, then by running crews. He did windows inside a general contracting outfit for years, and he noticed something that bothered him. Windows were the part of every job that got argued about later. The countertops didn’t bind. The cabinets didn’t fog. But the windows did, and the doors did, and the warranties never seemed to cover what actually went wrong.
In 2008, he and the window crew split off and formed TruePane Windows & Doors. The name wasn’t a marketing idea. A tradesman’s word: an opening that’s out of true binds, leaks, and fails early. Truing the pane, square, plumb, sealed, is the whole craft. And it’s the name on the truck.
What gets Dale out of bed now is the same thing that got him out of bed when he was carrying the second man’s tools: the belief that most window and door failures aren’t material defects. They’re installation defects. They’re shortcuts. They’re someone deciding “close enough” was good enough. That’s why TruePane still measures every opening twice. That’s why we quote manufacturer lines side by side on paper. That’s why the mission is printed on the wall: if the pane is not true, the job is not done. If Dale weren’t doing this, he’d probably be building wooden boats, which is the same discipline with a different material: every joint matters, and the sea punishes shortcuts.
Meet Dale Kessler - The Person Behind Every Job
Dale Kessler is the Owner & Founder of TruePane Windows & Doors. He’s spent his working life in the glazing trade, starting as a boy watching his father set glass and working his way through every role on the crew before taking the lead. He’s a second-generation glazier, and he brings that lineage to every quote and every install.
What separates Dale from a franchise technician is the same thing that separates a cabinetmaker from an assembler. He’s the person who can look at a rough opening in a 1980s Sarasota stucco home and tell you what the original builder got wrong and what it’ll take to make it right. He’s the person who understands why a west-facing window on Siesta Key fails differently than a north-facing window in Lakewood Ranch. That knowledge isn’t in a manual. It’s lived experience.
Off the job, Dale keeps a wood shop at home and restores old hand planes. There’s a picture on the office wall of the first set of storefront windows he ever installed, years ago, still in service. He points to it when someone asks what this work means to him. Then he says the thing he always says: we’ll do it right, and you’ll never have to think about it again.
Our Promise to Sarasota Homeowners
Our values have a name here: K.E.Y.S. It’s four commitments, and they’re not laminated on a breakroom poster. They’re the standard every job is measured against.
Krafted right. Trained journeymen, proper materials, no shortcuts. We use the right flashing, the right sealants, the right shim technique for the Florida climate. Not whatever is cheapest at the supply house.
Every time. The job we do on a Friday afternoon gets the same care as the job we do on a Monday morning. The last one of the week, the one before a holiday, the one in the rain. Same standard. Every time.
Your home first. We work in your house the way we’d work in our own mother’s house. Drop cloths down, shoes off or booties on, a clean site at the end of every day. We treat your home like it matters, because it does.
Standing behind it. If it’s not right, we come back. No paperwork, no arguing. That’s the Keystone Standard: both warranty layers in writing, durations stated, 90 days on our workmanship. No surprises on the bill, ever.
Our Credentials
Here’s what backs every TruePane Windows & Doors job in Sarasota:
- State-licensed. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. That’s not a badge we show off. It’s a baseline we don’t compromise.
- Insured & bonded. Same standard. Every pro working under our name is required to carry the insurance and bonding their state requires. You’re protected before the first tool comes off the truck.
- Years of local experience. We’ve been installing and repairing windows and doors in Sarasota County for the long haul. Our team knows this climate, this housing stock, and the specific failure modes that show up here.
- Strong local reputation. The people who hire us tend to be people who were referred to us. That says more than any number we could print.
Why does this matter to a homeowner? Because someone working in your home needs to be accountable. Licensing means a governing body can hold them to a standard. Insurance and bonding means an accident on your property doesn’t become your problem. Local experience means they’ve seen your kind of house before, and they know what it needs. Reputation means they’ve been doing right by your neighbors. That’s the whole point: accountability you can verify, not just claims we make.
Rooted in Sarasota
We answer the phone with a person, Monday through Saturday. We know the difference between a 1960s concrete block home in Southside Village and a 2000s stucco build in Palmer Ranch, and we know what each one needs when the windows start to fail. We’ve worked in Fruitville, Bee Ridge, Nokomis, and everywhere between, and we plan to be here in thirty years doing the same thing: showing up when we say we will, doing the job right, and standing behind it. Keystone companies hire local and train apprentices into journeymen, because a company that plans to be in town in thirty years acts like it.
A square deal, done right, no surprises on the bill. That’s what TruePane Windows & Doors is. That’s what we’ll be for you.
